Joe Mehl

Head Soccer Coach

Boys Varsity Soccer

HEAD VARSITY COACH - JOE MEHL enters his ninth year as Varsity Head Coach.  He played soccer at Oakland University and at Ohio University (club) where he also served as the Bobcat's coach.  He was recently inducted into the Oakland University Athletic Hall of Honor as a member of the 1982 team, which appeared in the NCAA Final Four Championship.

Coach Mehl holds a USSF "B" License, the USSF/USYSA National Youth License and is the Director of Coaching for the local Cincinnati Hills SAY soccer program.

During his tenure at MHS, Coach Mehl was named the Southwestern Ohio District Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2008. Mehl also guided his first MHS team in 2003 to the Men's District Finals - only the 2nd such appearance in the program's 30 year history.

In 2007 Coach Mehl added a third appearance in the District Finals, this time bringing home the trophy.  In 2008 his 'coach of the year' effort guided the Warriors to the District Championship, the Regional Championship and to the State Final Four, with a team that rewrote the school record book in all-stars, goals, assists, shutouts and wins .  Again in 2010 the Warriors won another District Title before falling to Springfield Catholic Central in the Regional Final.  The boys won four games throughout the season, including two in the tournament, with goals in the last minute of play.

He is the winningest coach in Mariemont history, with 77 wins.  He is thankful for having a very talented staff and players.

He resides in Mariemont with his wife, Jill and three children, Emily, Andrew and Abby.
