Coaches
Biography:

HEAD COACH - ERIK VANAGS is a history teacher at Mariemont High School.  He taught and coached for 10 years at Milford, his alma mater, before coming to Mariemont in 2007.  He received an undergraduate degree in History from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Education at Xavier. 

This is Erik's first position as a head varsity coach. He served as an interim head coach last season before redeving a full appointment as head coach this year.

Coach Vanags has demonstrated a pattern of sending winning teams up to the varsity with a 38-18-10 record, winning the CHL in 2008. He has a combined CHL record of 16-6-5.  As a Varsity Assistant, he  took part in winning the 2007 District Championship and the State Final Four in 2008. 

He has been involved in the game of soccer at various levels for 35 years.  He enjoys coaching and training while he still attempts to play a few times a week.  He avidly watches the English Premier League and supports Arsenal.  He is looking forward to a great season and loves working with the student-athletes.

His wife Lisa, is also a teacher, but at Sycamore.  They live in Mariemont, with their son, Noah. 

Jeff Hinebaugh.


Assistant Coach

Biography:

ASST. VARSITY COACH - JEFF HINEBAUGH According to Head Coach Joe Mehl, “Jeff Hinebaugh is a tremendous asset to the MHS Men’s Soccer program. His depth of knowledge and passion for training has greatly impacted the development of our goalkeepers across the board.” 

Coach Hinebaugh played college soccer at Grove City College. In 1988, Hinebaugh was named to the NCAA D3 All-American team, the same year he earned MVP honors for his Grove City squad. Prior to attending Law School at the University of Michigan, he played professionally for the Canton Invaders of the NPSL. While in Ann Arbor, Hinebaugh was the Goalkeeper Trainer for the U of M Men’s team. 

In 2007, his goalie training effort contributed tremendously to the Warriors' District Championship.  In 2008, his training of yet another goalie, helped the Warriors to the State Final Four.

The players may love and respect his enthusiasm for the game, but they keep him around for his trademark yellow Crocs.  This tradition has come under fire of late, from friends and family.  It may become endangered.

Jeff and his wife Erika reside in Mariemont with their two children.

Junior Varsity Coach & Assistant Coach

Biography:

JV COACH & Assistant Coach - JUSTIN RICHARDSON has been the Boys Junior High coach at Mariemont since 2007.  In 2009, he began assisting with the Junior Varsity program.  Beginning last season he has been the full time junior varsity coach.  He also assists with varsity training and preparation.  He is a professional soccer trainer by trade.  He has been training in Mariemont, Terrace Park and Evendale since 2006.  Throughout the summers he runs soccer camps all over Ohio. He also coaches a girls U8 team for KSA  (Kings Soccer Association) and has worked with other select teams of various ages.

Coach Richardson is a true international man of intrigue, a regular migrant worker so to speak.  He resides in Newcastle, England, traveling to Mariemont for the soccer season and returning home to England for the winter.

He played soccer throughout high school and College. His degree is in Coaching Science, and he follows soccer religiously.

Assistant Coach

Biography:

ASST. JV COACH - JEFF JACKSON has been coaching Junior High, SAY, and indoor soccer for the last 14 years.  He is the former commissioner of the Terrace Park soccer program and
board member of the Cincinnati Hills SAY league.  While he played football during college at Rose-Hulman, his kids drug him into the soccer arena. 

Jeff may be the biggest kid on the field and the players love him.  A varsity program is no better than the players that the Junior Varsity feed it and Jeff has been very successful in developing players.

An avid supporter of Rec soccer, he loves to see the players succeed at the High School level.
Jeff resides in Terrace Park with his 3 children, Andie, Keeky, and Emily.
